That was my Craigslist posting!!!

I went to the first meeting on Monday and it seemed that there was an equal mix of chicken supporters and anti-chicken people. Throughout the meeting, the city planners seemed to really want to talk to people who currently had chickens, so they could provide input on issues like odor and noise. Basically they need people to come tell them that all the myths about chickens being dirty and smelly are totally UNTRUE!

I am planning on going to the next two meetings, and if anyone on here is able to come show their support it would be greatly appreciated by those of us in Hillsboro who want chickens! You don't have to have a speech or anything prepared if you don't want to, you can just raise your hand at the appropriate times to show your support. Together we can make a difference!

Hi All,
We lost two of our chickens last night to a friend's dog who dug a hole under the run
sad.png
The Buff was our favorite, she had an issue in the beginning and my partner spent hours nursing her back to health, even took her to work so he could keep feeding her with a dropper and make sure she was okay. We went out and buried them last night, and the dog will go to work with him while we are watching it, and will sleep in the garage, as I cant' even think to look at her right now. We were on our way to dinner when my mom called to tell us what happened, our 10 year old heard some noise and went out back and found the carnage. He was pretty upset by it all, just such a rediculous loss of life.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of someone who would sell a buff no older than 2-3 months in the central oregon area? My partner and the boys have asked that I find another buff, but I'm not sure how to just "find" one type that is the same age as the others. We live over by High Desert Feed, and could start over with a chick, but I was looking forward to the eggs sooner than later. I think if I could find a buff and an EE I would be over the moon. Just putting it out there.

On a side note, who knew it was so hard to deal with dead chickens? We were all crying, and when we buried them we made sure they were someplace wonderful that we can always see them. My mom is visiting from a village in ALaska and just thinks we're crazy for making pets out of them. She said back home they would just be killed anyway like all the rest of the fowl. Ugh. Didnt' make me feel any better

Hi

Sorry to hear about your loss. Have you tried looking on the auctions here on BYC. There is a breeder how as buff hatching on the 25 th of this Month. Will only ship 10 chicks as min. number but may you could PM and be able to pick up one. They live in Lakeview. Maybe Big R is still selling chicks or could order one for you. We live in central oregon also. Hope you are able to find what you are looking for.

juniperyogi ~ So sorry for your loss. You can always come here for people who understand how hard it is to lose a chicken. Hope your family heals soon.

Hello Oregon peeps

I have 2 Bantam Blue Salmon Faverolle roosters that are going to need homes. I can't keep them in Portland.
They are 5 weeks old. They are not show quality and their coloring isn't the ideal standard for the breed,
but they look to me like they will be quite handsome. The pictures don't do
them justice. They come from a Faverolle trio at Pistils. Please let me know
if you're interested or have any questions.
Thank you,
Dawn

If they were bred from a blue salmon trio, I think you have a salmon and a splash salmon there...post them over on the faverolles thread under breeds & genetics section, someone will probably snatch them right up!

Hi all... Woodburn chiming in... I keep marans and BLRW. Go Hillsboro!!!! Good luck with that... I am sending good vibes your way.
