It's snow-raining here. I thought the snow wouldn't start until tomorrow. My son is going down to a friend's ranch in Roseburg this afternoon. I always hate when they drive down in crappy weather...but that's pretty much all the time.

Well, shoot, now the sun is out. BTW, I'm thinking of growing rice in my backyard. Or maybe putting in a cranberry bog?

Yeah, there was slushy rain on my way home from work in the middle of the night last night, but there's actually some BLUE creeping through out there right now!! Woo hoo!

Good lord! Someone planted a tree over this sewer line too. We were lucky though & had a plumber friend help us. & then the city came out & did some more repairs under the easement. Now we'll remove the tree to stop any further problems. Phew.

The snow was so pretty earlier today. I dont mind if it doesn't stick, I just want to see it fall. Besides... what will my girls do in the snow? I dont know yet.

Wait! 60+ chickens. I dont think I'd want to lug water for that many either. Yikes.

Love the falling snow, not so much the sticking snow. Looks like we might be out of the woods for today. Oh and chickens in the snow...don't worry they won't come out of the coop!

We had a fly by this afternoon while the sun was out...danged hawks! I'm still sad over the loss of our beautiful partridge silkie. My DS is desperate to replace her. He lays the guilt on thick...it was my fault they were out in the open.

I cannot believe my finicky chickens! I have been sprouting wheat berries for them and for a change I tried some delicious peas. The snubbed me and the peas! Can you believe that? Those girls also don't appreciate BOSS. I try and try and the squirrels end up eating them. Cheese, OTH, they go crazy for. Go figure.

I saw someone on CL who raises meal worms. The freeze dried ones are so expensive I thought that might be interesting...to grow them myself. Anyone ever try that?

Hi there, I'm in Grants Pass. Yep the weather was weird today. We had a little of everything. The only thing that was steady was the freezer temps!!
I have 4 hens, down from 18. We have a mixed group but at this time they are all buff colored. 1 BO, 2 Bcochin Bantams and a B EE. The Easter Egger is a little weird, ADHD, but the other three are pretty great hens.
I didn't look at many of the posts so don't know how many of us are in So OR versa the Portland area. I would like to connect with those in So OR for trades or what ever. Hope you all stay warm and dry tonight.

Welcome to Oregon, well at least here at the BYC.

I'm not the official greeter...just up early. I'm in the Portland area, but we head down to Roseburg a lot, so for trades etc, that's very doable. And you sound like you need more chickens! Everyone needs more chickens. I can't believe I was down to 2 old ladies for while...still have the old ladies, crotchety EEs. There will be a meet-up in Canby in April. In the Fall it'll be down south more. Pop over to that message board and see what everyone has/wants.. It get's crazy on that board the closer we get to the meet-up date.
