I'm just so not a fan of sex links, I'm always going to tell you to go with something else...![]()
I think if I could only have a few chickens maybe I wouldn't have the Sex Links as they aren't super interesting compared to other breeds. I was at a backyard wedding reception the other day, and the Buff Brahma pecking around gave the bride a run for the money for prettiest girl there, so they are on my LONG list of breeds to get. BUT ... those amazing Sex Link eggs! Out of the birds we have laying, the Sex Links started laying first and currently have the biggest eggs. We can have a big flock, so we'll have a sizable contingent of Sex Links surrounded by more interesting breeds. We're getting more Sex Links this week as part of Flock D.
We have adopted a few birds so far, and I think we've been lucky that they haven't brought any illnesses or other problems into the flock. Bringing in new birds does make me nervous. Especially right now while we're just getting started and still learning stuff at a rapid pace and clearly have a LOT left to learn! I said "no" to the last oopsie! rooster! looking for a new home. I feel safer raising up chicks.
