Oregon

Well, it's official. I've decided to breed for cute now and not show anymore for the a while.

For starters, my neighbors filed a noise complaint regarding crowing, even though others on the block have roos. Also, my coop is now a smaller run size, which also leads to smaller birds. Third and final is that when I was deciding who to show at the state fair I chose my seramas, cause they were "cutest" and left my show birds at home.

Breeding for cute, at least what I find cute, will mean smaller birds that eat less, need less space, and will require virtually no record keeping, selective breeding, or any worry about culling for quality's sake. Cute chickens can just be thrown together and I don't have to worry about who breeds with who unless I really just want to see what happens.

I will still be doing what I love, raising chickens. But with less stress, and a cheaper feed bill!

LOL just kidding, they like anything, sand is good, but the best thing is to get food grade diatemaceous earth...it will help keep the mites and lice off of them too.
