I ordered 15 jersey giant eggs, one hatched. The others didn't take and went out to check on the lil one and something must of got it it was gone. I thought he would be safe with his momma until he was a little older but something got in and got him. I should of safeguarded him by taking him up but I was hoping he would be ok. I didn't want him to be alone in the house with no other chicks or his surrogate silkie Mom. I know this is no big deal in the scheme of things but makes me sad anyway, it was a blue chick and was just a doll.

Should of gone with my gut.

Im so sorry first hatches r the worst I have hatched about 5 times and still have never had my chicks make it. But atleast one of the times made me figure out that my ducks were laying. One time I was waiting and I leave the eggs in the incubator past when their due and it was around 28 days and a duck hatched sadly it wasnt strong enough and it didnt make it.

I think my chickens are depressed. I go out to collect eggs this afternoon and all 7 adults are in the coop, refusing to go out and free range. Just raining too hard. I actually told them to get used to this weather, it will be like this for next 7-8 months. The 3 chicks in the tractor are just chilling on the roost.
