Oreo the barred rock 12 weeks just died. No preditor what happened?

I found our 12 week old rooster dead and stiff in the corner of the pen. We had just free ranged and this was the 3rd day.

No marks, No feathers, he just laid down and died. I think he may have ate a clip of a piece of metal wire or ran into the post and broke his neck? All the other chickens about 9 to 13 weeks are just fine.

What could have caused this to happen? all poo and feed was normal

I just read recently where the Barred Rocks are prone to heat stroke. I took attention when reading because my Elivis is a Barred Rock (12 weeks) and I adore him. Two days ago it was rather warm outside and I noticed him panting a lot. Perhaps that is the reason. I'm sorry.

My 1 year old BR died last week. No signs of illness, or anything. She looks like she just laid down and went to sleep. There seemed to be no reason for it...

We found our sumatra hen dead this morning. she had a wet head and neck. chicken snake! It couldn't swallow her. We found the snake. Sorry about your chicken, it hurts no matter how they die.
