Organic egg's

It seems that there are still folks in this society that have no understanding about the unique nature of growing food with out the use of a lot of chemical input. I have heard this argument about true organics being unattainable for as many years as I have spent in the natural and organic food industry. Some years ago I lectured to many in the food industry and heard the exact thoughts expressed here. Now that the movement has hit mainstream many of the cynics are wondering how to find product to put in their stores that are organically grown.

There is a huge difference between lettuce being sprayed directly with a herbicide and pesticide and perhaps having some amount of contaminant come in contact with it from the atmosphere. I understand not everyone beleives that organic products having value for themselves, but I am not very patient when the concept is dismissed as complete nonsense. Seems a bit narrow to me.

You would think that we have no ability to grow food in balance with nature and in the long run make some difference in our ag system.

That is my rant.

Pooh ,
I sort of enjoyed our little back and forth. You obviously have a right to any opinion you would ever want to have and I fully respect that. I am not a moderator, nor would I ever want to referee a bunch of idiots like myself.

In my opinion had you positioned your thoughts as an opinion as opposed to what felt to me like out right ridicule of not only a life style but what is for me an occupation, your posts would likely still be here.

My life's passion and career has been focused on organically produced products. Folks dont normally dismiss what I have done as a career as an excuse to charge more for a product than what it is worth. As a matter of fact making a profit in this industry at any level is a challenge. Lots of hard work.

Finally someone commented that declaring something as organic if it did not meet the requirements was against the law and it is. The leap from it being illegal to being held arreseted with arms and hard jail time or whatever that comment was, seemed extreme and did make light of a very real product and again lifestyle.

I hope to never take any of your life's contributions as meaningless and trust that you can respect mine and others

Respectfully

One very very final thought LOL

Hoot all of my apologies for taking what I think was a pretty simple question on your part and making it into a bit of a debate.

Debate is a part of life however and we all learn something from it. Thanks for your paitence.

Apparently I am not allowed to have an opinion except the opinion expressed by you or the mods, Greathorse. You are the one using the words, "meaningless" and "lifestyle". You ARE however a fine orator and lobbyist for that "lifestyle". Just didn't change MY mind on the subject. All a matter of semantics.

WOW!

Organic eggs sounds like more of a pain in my behind than the hen that lays it. I think I will just stick to the farm fresh, free range cackle berries I have grown to enjoy and love.

I mean we can't live forever. And if an egg from a chicken that walked by a worm that was bedded in top soil that once had a drop of gasoline spilled on it gets me, then I figure it was just my time to go.

Hoot
