Organic Feed in West TN - Where?????

from that other thread, about the Organic Pride

Quote:
personally, i would hesitate to buy this feed. i don't feed soybeans to any of my animals and i don't eat it myself. unless prepared correctly, which it almost never is for feeds, soybean can cause a lot of health problems. also, i don't buy anything that has corn as it's main ingredient. corn is NOT the most efficient and beneficial grain but it is used mostly because of cost. ideally, wheat or peas would be the main ingredient, with corn on down the list.

of course, you then have the question of what is most important- preferred nutrition or feeding organic? that is a hard call. i guess, personally, i would buy a non-organic feed without medications or soy before i would buy organic that had soy. i would buy also buy non-organic without medications and soy that had a better nutritional balance before i would buy unbalanced organic. organic is really important to me (i run an organic business after all), but nutrition comes first.

if you are interested in learning more about poultry nutrition and feed ingredients, check out the links on my BYC page. i've been doing A LOT of personal research on the subject and you might find it interesting.

If you find a TN source, please post it because I would like to have as many as possible on my list. I keep a long list of feed stores and grain mills that make or carry organic chicken feeds, and I have nothing for the state, just as the previous posters said they have noticed as well.

Thanks!
