Oriental Gamefowl Thread!

It could also be him putting his head through the wire if the holes are just big enough. Wire will rub feathers off fast

He was running free with others until his head started showing losing feather above the left eye. It just getting bigger. He is by himself now but inside a 2 by 4 wire cage.

Tell us what the goal of this particular grading is jat. Interesting look!

I have long dreamed of making a better looking Sumatra than what we know today, something that looks more like they used too, and I have my own ideas of how to do it. I don't know if this cockerel will even turn out to be what is needed. He was from the "extras" fowl pen. I did not try to get him, it was just an egg that was needed to fill up the incubator.

Never seen a Sumatra that wasn't a 'bag full of feathers' in my opinion: worthless fowl. I truly hope you succeed. Too bad it won't be recognized by those who Show them.

I took a friend to see the "chicken trees" at Claypool's place last week. He is selling lots of hens off $2-3, but I really was enamored of one cockerel. He is a stunning BBR, white legs, correct comb, low spread tail, big, he could pass for a full cubalaya. If I didn't like my new stags so much I would have bought him. He was asking $25.

In the early 80s, I used to buy some Malay-Sumatra cross roosters from Hazel Matthew in Tennessee. This cross produced big strong bird with shining plummage and double-triple spur. An excellent traits that I fell in love with.
