Hi Everybody

All these beautiful games are driving me nuts with their beauty.

I have a question for any that would like to answer.

I have a hatchery Black Sumatra with red leakage. Would he be of any use to anyone for a project? I can't keep him ( I had 7 Black Sumatras in an assortment) but I think he is very beautiful even though his coloring is wrong.

BTW he is small and so far has very dark pigment.

Red leakage in a Sumatra sounds like it could mean he's a mutt. I know any chicken--purebred or not--can occasionally throw an unexpected color, but you'd expect something like Platinum or White from a Sumatra, not reddish leakage.

Pictures would be helpful, if you've got some. If he's "type-ie" enough, he could be used for a project. Also, I'm not an expert, and there are many other folks here on this thread that are much more learned than I

They are a breed. They are a combination that was made and perfected years ago, made from Thai, Shamo, Spanish Fowl, and someone lines have asil in them as well.

Different breeders have bred for different type, some lines breed fairly consistent for type, not many breed true on color, that is one reason they were not an accepted breed, as they have a lot of variance in type, being dictated by breeders preference and use for the bird.

The why part : there's to many reasons why I like Asil so will name a few

I like old breeds especially with history, the Asil is in fact one if the oldest known breeds in the world.

Plus pure Asil are very rare, I live for all breeds uncommon and rare weather its lineage,breeds,color etc. I don't just take in junk either I want the best, and buy from people with good reps.

When I was offered pure Asil I jumped at the chance to get some.
Especially with some of lines and breeders names attached to my fowl.


They're also very entertaining to watch, they're unique, and come in diff types ,colors and sizes.

They're very smart and active plus affectionate almost like dogs I guess you could say :lol


My second breed if choice would probably be shamo.

my fav oriental are shamo I only have 2 pure shamos hens that I used for my projects , I like shamos because they are so friendly with people .
they are good brooders too.
