Ornamental Layer Collection from MMH, input? Received w/ Pics!

I called to check on the order yesterday, we could see them arrive as early as Sunday (?? didn't know they did that..). We are all chicken crazy, so are quite excited about the new peeps.

I'll post pictures and whatnot when they come...

Thanks for all the responses as well, I appreciate the input.

My wife got a call from the post office this morning, a box full of dead chicks.

Shipped from McMurray on Saturday. Saturday night we had windchills down to -45.

Not good news. The lady at the post office was hoping mad as well as us.

Another shipment will be sent and should arrive next Tuesday.

My girls went to school crying.

FYI, the lady at McMurray said any order can be delayed if weather is a concern, all the buyer has to do is call by Friday of that week. We didn't know this before hand.

Oh no! i'm so sorry! Those poor chicks! And so sorry your girls had to experience this.

Update:

Got a call from the hatchery yesterday, the hatch didn't go well, so no chicks coming today. They will ship next week. My girls are disappointed, but understand it will be better all around.

Did I mention we are all looking forward to the chicks?

Today is President's Day. They had this weeks hatch set to happen Sunday, shipping out Sunday. Most Post Office related stuff happens behind the scenes I guess, as far as shipping goes. There are Post Office locations which are open 24 hrs on the weekends, as far as shipping is concerned. We we set to drive 45 minutes to pick them up today, even though there is no delivery.

The hatchery would normally hatch/ship on Saturday for a Monday arrival. They actually are very organized and do know what they are doing, unfortunately, the same cannot be said for some of the postal workers.

Sunday 02-24-2008. Around 8:45 am we got a call from the post office an hour away. Our chicks were there. They wouldn't be to the other Post office until tomorrow, and that was a 45 minute drive. We recently returned from making the chick run.

MMH shipped 27 chicks, 9 were loss.

3 of the 18 remaining were down, but revived on the ride home. (Warmed up and a little (warm) water.) 1 has curled toes on one foot and may not make it. Hatched at 9:45 PM Saturday Night (02-23-08), by 10:45 AM we were almost home. 13 hours.

Please exucse the fuzziness of the close ups. I'll work on better pics after awhile.
