Thank you!!! The babies are doing great. Once they stopped using the heat plate and started roosting, we removed it. Sadly the hen that allowed them to get under her passed so the 12 week old now had taken them in. But now she is ill also so she's living in a tote in my bathroom while we nurse her back to health :/

What's causing the illness?

Honestly I don't know. It started out with a lame leg, then it was like neither leg worked right. Wouldn't walk and would move around with their wings. We have a little box outside for shade and they'd hang in it all day. Ate and drank but just wasn't right. I cleaned out the coop with hot water and soap, fresh pine with diatomaceous earth and a bit of lime. We're giving everyone poultry cell in their water and she gets a syringe daily. I'm not sure where I went wrong

Same symptoms both hens? If you lose this one consider sending the body in to your state lab for a necropsy to find out what's killing your chickens. Don't freeze the body but do double wrap it in plastic and keep it cold on ice in a cooler. Stand by, I'll give you a list of state labs so you can find yours.
