Orpington Chick with eye issue

Sorry to keep posting this, but I'm quite frustrated. I know it's just a chick, and chicks die, but I really want to do everything I can for her. I'm having a really hard time finding someplace to buy Terramycin online. Dr Foster is sold out until Sept. Can anyone point me in the right direction of where to buy this? The Veterycin seems to have made things worse after using it for 2 days so I stopped. Below are 2 pictures I took today after cleaning her eyes as well as I could. The eyes are super crusty. Her left eye is definitely the worst. Sorry for the lighting on that photo, putting her in the brooder was the best way to get that side. She is pooping normal again, but still has a very low energy level and still not eating nearly as much as the others. She's also the smallest chick by far due to not eating as much. I've changed the bedding to paper towel so at least she's not getting shavings and sawdust stuck in her eyes anymore.

Frustrated first time chick owner...

you can also use colloidal silver you can get it at any health food store. get the one with 500 parts per million of silver. this should cure the eyes right up. its excellent for eye issues and works wonderfully. its all natural and very safe. I use it for my birds eyes. I urge you to give it a try I think it will really help!

Thank you! I actually have some at home in the medicine cabinet. I will try that out tonight. Do i need to dilute it with anything? I think at this point if you told me to tap my head and try a chicken dance for her I'd do it.

please don't dilute it. use it straight. it works as a antibiotic and antiseptic. it should really make a difference. I prefer to use the one with 500 ppm of silver as its stronger. keep using the silver three times a day and soon you should see an improvement. its always worked for me. and its natural so you need not worry. but sometimes healing takes a little time so give it a chance to work. I bought a big bottle just for my chickens eyes.its always worked well for me.I really hope it helps and please keep me posted. do you know how many ppms of silver is your bottle? the higher the better. mines about 500ppm and its always done a good job. I wish you the best! I'm praying she heals soon!

Thanks Realsis! I'm not sure what we have at home, but if it's not 500 ppm I'll go get a different bottle. I've become so stupidly attached to Lemon. I have a giant soft spot for things that struggle with life. The sickly kids always steal my heart. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks so much for your advise!!!!

So, my silver is a tiny 18 ppm. I used it for her anyway since the health food store only has 10 ppm. I ordered some that was 500 ppm, but it won't be here until tomorrow. I'll just go ahead and use what I have until then. Can't hurt right! Her eyes were actually starting to look a little better last night. I spent probably 20 minutes with her trying to get all the crusties off her eyes. It's quite a process, but I think she was finally able to close her outer lids to sleep last night. She was more energetic and eating and drinking better last night too, so that gives me hope!

yes the 500 ppm will really do the job. please keep me posted. I've always had good luck using the silver its great stuff. the 500ppm will really make a difference! you will see! I'm so happy to hear she is improving! please keep me posted! :)

Just a quick update to let you know Lemon is doing soooo much better. I got the silver on Saturday and have been putting a drop in each eye 3 times a day after giving them a good cleaning. Finally got her to the point where she can close both eyes and they aren't getting near as crusty. I think the infection is mostly gone now. She is eating and drinking so much better and is a lot more active than she was. You can tell she's feeling better. Still won't come to me like the other chicks for treats, but after being manhandled by me multiple times a day I don't really blame her.
Thanks so much for your help! Still might get some Terramycin just to have on hand in case something like this ever happens again and the silver doesn't clear it up, but so far it seems to be working like a charm.
