*Orpington Leg Color Question!*

Quote:
To add to this the blue/black are suppose to have white on the bottoms of the feet. I know the Orps I ordered were orps, but probably had something else in the ancestry and that is why the feet were yellow or so I was told.

I took some pics. For a while I thought it was just me lol.
here is one of the correct pullet

So, at closer look I have two hens and a rooster with this problem.

I have homes for them already, my husband friend loves the Orps. and will use them for table eggs.

Yellow skin is usually indicative of 'rock' in the breeding, not pure orp blood.

I have heard from someone else, of people using Jersey Giants to increase the size in the Orps. Dont they have yellow skin too?

Yes, I believe they do. That's the downside of bringing in another breed to develop a trait-takes a long time to breed out the unwanted stuff. If you want to be a serious breeder, certainly, those would be "culls", even though in every other aspect they are most likely just fine. Someone else may be fine with breeding them for a backyard flock.

sorry to barge in, but has anyone seen black orps with black skin on the face? i have a black orp that's from a breeder who originally got their chicks from sandhill. i hatched the eggs from him and hatched a blue, splash and black orp boys. the black orps face is black as a silkies skin. i know per APA, the skin on the face is suppose to be red, right??
