ORPINGTON THREAD

I actually haven't named my chicks, I'm on of those production not pets people, sorry to disappoint haha!

I know, I just don't see them as pets, they give me eggs. I get money. I know that's harsh but yeah. Also, I figured naming them would make them a little harder to cull later...

I get it, I have met people who do that. I used to think the same! But I have changed the way I see chickens. Plus I dont eat an animal I know... But I understand!

I have 80 pullets and one chockrel and all I could name was Mr.Red. There's no way yet to pick name they all look the same. I thought I had a Ms Molly but now I can't tell witch one she is.

You can put bands on the chicks. That might help

Yes we just did last week end. I used Colored zip tied. But only separated them by breed so far. Will work on a more personal way later. Still trying to finish the hen house. How big of a roost would I need for 80 chickens. I'm thinking 5runs 10 long. Maybe 6 runs. I'm limited on space and what ever I do will have to be stair stepped

I have available to pick up some hatching eggs from a mixed flock of Lemon Cuckoo and Lavander Orpingtons. Assuming some will be pure, others mixed. Since I have limited space, could someone advise as to what I might be looking at with the mixed Orpingtons.
Tks
