What would be best to breed this guy to? I have 2 red Orpingtons that come with him. And what colors to avoid breeding, I don’t want to make a mess! I love this colouring! I also have black Orpingtons and a splash

Buff barred if I’m not wrong. I believe if you breed it to the red it will be 50/50 buff barred and red barred. Correct me if I’m wrong.
 
What would happen is black or splash or lavender we’re in the mix? Messy?
 
I'd breed it to the reds and none of the others.
Depends exactly what genes it and the reds have for the outcome.
I just hatched a few buff over red and the offspring are in between. To dark for buff but not nearly as dark as reds.
They have one mahogany gene while the red parent has two and the buff parent none.
Buff crossed with black, blue, splash and lavender IMO make a mess. Usually birds that front half get a lot of buff coloring while the back half gets the other color.
