I was wonder what The chicks would look like if i mix a buff rooster orp with my blues,blacks and spalash hens. I would like a Black Or Blue Orp but no one sells them around here and i only see Buff roosters for sell.

You will get some chicks that look buff, some that look blue or black and some that look like some of both with colors bleeding through.

They will be pure orpingtons BUT they won't be pure buff or pure bbs and for many breeders that would make them the same as your every day variety barnyard mutts.

However, you could get a great color out of them and get a jump on a fabulous color like I did.

Woot!

Go for it but don't try to pass them along as pure bbs orps. You'll have some very angry people coming after you for it.

I have a beautiful solid Black Orp pullet that just started laying last week.Her father was a Blue Orp and her mother was a Buff.She will carry the buff gene more than likely and could throw mostly buff chicks.
