Ortho Bug B Gone? (tick problem)

I found an old thread about Ortho Bug B Gone Max but there was no answer about how safe it is around chickens? The ticks have already begun to crawl here and we usually use this stuff to keep them in check all summer. If it's not safe can someone suggest something that is safe but effective to kill the ticks? There's no way the chickens will be able to keep the tick population down...
