OT: Piercing questions

That will slow down your healing time, probably. Because it tends to shatter or crack the cartelege around it. My first helix was done with a gun as well. Whoops. The ones I got done professionally with a needle healed much faster and felt better, even though it wasn't fun feeling him twist it through my ear, haha.

I got a my ears
peirced right at the top and it didnt hurt
but it stung for a week, i cleaned it all the time
but they didnt heal right and it made a huge
bump in the back of my ear because it started healing
aroung the earing holder. I orginaly wanted to get a
tiny stud in my nose but Dad said no, so I went with the
ears.

Yes, that scar tissue is very common. They are called heliods, or something like that. I have a few on my ears, some of them I got taken off while I was knocked out for a different surgery. Haha.

Keloids. I've been told there is something you can put on them to help them go away, but I'd have to look it up to find it again. hehe

Also, if it's growing up around your earring, it's possible you may be allergic to the metal, not that it's a keloid. What kind of earring was it? I strongly recommend titanium, at least until it heals, but even if not, something pure (not plated) like sterling silver or high content gold.

If you found that information again I'd greatly appreciate it! I have one on the front of my left ear and people sometimes notice it and its really annoying!

Okay~I had a helix piercing.....it NEVER healed. I had it for over 2 yrs and I'm not kidding...it never ever healed. It hurt all the time. At the end I got a knot on the back so I just pulled it out. Funny thing, I slept better that first nite without it then I had slept in 2 yrs. I hadn't realized how much it was affecting my sleep. I did get it done with a gun.....maybe that is why it didn't heal?

Now I will admit I'm almost 34 yrs old and I have my tongue pierced. It hurt alot in the beginning but after a few weeks I never noticed it. I love it. I can't even tell it's in. I guess I had it done maybe 7 yrs ago. My hubby loves it! I guess it was a really rebelous thing to do for someone like me. I'm a goody-goody!

It probably shattered part of your cartilege. It happens all the time when you get it done with guns. I didn't know that before I got my first one done, which was also done with a gun. It took about 6 months to heal, but luckily after that it was fine.
