This may make me prove to you all that I'm a little weird, but... Yesterday I started work on my new coop with the help of my dad, designed through reading much of the advice on here . My tooth was killing me, so we didn't get too much done, but did get a pretty good start on it. My dad made me call the dentist (something I avoided for a while because of being scared and most importantly because of financial reasons with no insurance). I got a dentist appointment set up for today and we rescheduled the finishing of the coop to Wednesday. This morning my tooth was still hurting. I let the chickens outside, and had to coop them up again 15 minutes later and go inside again because my tooth was hurting so bad I just wanted to go sit. I felt bad about it, but they're only part time free range, so they'll be okay. I headed to the dentist for my appointment, and found out I needed a root canal. I got on BYC on my phone while I waited for them to be ready. They got about halfway done, and I felt a really sharp pain in my mouth and screamed. They tried to see if they could work around that spot, but they couldn't, so I had to go see a specialist. For the 4 hours between that and the specialist, I stayed on BYC, even reading posts from a couple of years ago, to keep my mind off my teeth and off of going back to the dentist. I was scared half to death it was going to hurt again. I read a lot about chickens, taking care of them, building coops, funny stories, and more. Before I knew it, it was time to go to the next appointment. While I was waiting to be seen, I read more. It really really helped keep my mind of being scared and wanting to cry. I know I'm a wimp. But THANK YOU to everyone who posts on this site, for all of the great advice you give, as well as the great stories that can help a person when they need it, even if their need isn't exactly chicken related. (Although, while under the effects of the laughing gas, all I could think of was chickens, lol!) Thank you for helping to create a wonderful place where people can go to discuss these animals that have captured our hearts! Thank you mods for keeping this place a great, active place, full of knowledge and fun! It was so nice to not only learn more about my new pets, but to also be able to keep my mind off of today. I'm much better now, no more pain, but I'm still on here reading because it's such a great place to come and learn and everyone seems to be very very nice. THANK YOU.
