other breeds to raise with Faverolles

Hey there! We are planning to start raising show quality Faverolles next year. I was wondering if there are any good laying breeds that you can keep alongside a flock of Favs without the Favs getting picked on. Our intention in the next couple of years is to have our kids start showing Favs in 4h while at the same time having some ladies who lay very well to keep us stocked up on eggs. Suggestions? Hints? Help? anyone! Thanks!

Orpingtons. Cochins (not the best layers but good broodies if you need them). Brahmas.

Who are you getting your Faverolles from?

That's a good question I'm still trying to find someone who would have eggs ready next year. You have any ideas?

Any kind of Orpington would be good! If you're wanting them for eggs an Australorp would be good too. I bought some chicks this year and ended up with a partially crested one by accident. They've never bothered her and neither have the Barred Rock pullets I have with them.
