Other uses for an incubator?

I knuckled down and bought one for the off chance I had a hen abandon a nest or a sick or injured bird. I know for some birds they work as hospital cages and while the one I got was exceptionally small (only fits 12 eggs) I was wondering are there any hospital uses the incubator could have for injured or sick parrots if anyone ended up ill?

Or has anyone else noticed any dual purposes with their birds and an incubator or is an incubator just that, a surrogate warm bottom and turner for eggs?

A bator can make great hospital chamber for a sick animal, as long as it is large enough for the animal concerned and secure enough that they could not get out unexpectedly.

I have used my R Com King Suro for an orphaned baby squirrel, just for a couple of hours, while waiting for it to be collected by a wildlife rescue and for a two week old African Pygmy hedgehog that I then fostered to another mum.

This one's probably far too small.

But I was thinking in a pinch it might work for a cockatiel on the way to the vet? If not I should return it and get a bigger one perhaps?

I would think it would work for a cockatiel but the issue would be whether the bird was sufficiently poorly not to flap around in there and hurt itself. I would be more inclined to restrict the movement of a bird like that by wrapping it in something maybe?

When it gets here I'll to a test wrap with my son Data and check it out if he can fit, because then that justifies the purchase completely for me. I haven't had any issues where I need an incubator yet, and I haven't had thank god to hatch any eggs on my own, but time can be of the essence with birds and money can be tight so I thought this was probably a good purchase, thank you for helping me feel better about it.

I mean mine cost 60$ so it wasn't horrendous for little things. I say buy it anyway if you're going to just do the small scale stuff, the idea of growing my own mushrooms when it's not in use for chicks is amazing and cost effective because then I know that they grew out of bacterium that isn't poop like alot of mushrooms (I'm dumb I know lol) Thanks for the idea Boonie! and nice to see you Rebra!

But I have my own horse poop that I could use in it to grow mushrooms out of... perfect. :sick... I've actually been considering how I might achieve that .... but there are a lot of things that would need that £60 before I can think of spending it on an incubator to fill with horse manure and grow mushrooms in.
