Other ways to cull?

Just wondering if there are any other ways to cull a quail, other than cut it’s head off? I would like to get rid of some males but intact for a reptile to eat? Like a humane euthanasia so to speak?? Lol
Out of 5 of my jumbo browns... 4 are male.. booo... I do have 3 other whites but only 3 weeks old so no clue what sex they are yet

The surest, easiest way I know of is to remove their heads. Will a reptile not eat them if they aren't intact?

@le_bwah .... oh he will eat anything laying on his plate... I was just trying to keep all the insides/parts intact... most nutritional and less work for me
But yea... totally get it.. head off.. quick and no clue what even happened

I guess you could also hit them hard with a stick in the head to knock them out, then break their neck a little carefully to avoid pulling the head off. But hitting them involves a risk of not hitting right, cutting the head of is pretty straightforward.

@DK newbie ... well yup! You did list another option... lol.. but man.. I don’t think I would want to take the chance of not hitting it correctly... I already have issues with just using a hammer and a nail correctly ... which is why I typically use screws for everything

I don't think there's a significant loss of nutrition from the removal of the head. Many predators don't bother eating the heads of things, too much bone.
Or, if it's an animal that doesn't need its food in one go (i.e. not a snake), just give it the body and also the head. I know a big lizard would probably be happy to eat both.

I'm sure there are non-violent euthanasia methods that could work, assorted drugs, but those would all render the bird not safely edible.

Oh and yea.. he is a big lizard.. loves the crunchy stuff

You could...put them in a freezer??? Hypothermia is "peaceful". Tbh severing the head is most humane and convenient esp if you plan on eating them

Don't even think about chilling your adult birds, please. It takes a lot longer than you'd think to kill that way—a relatively slow, painful/stressful death.

When you gotta kill them, off with their heads.
