i've been confined to the house all day. my parents even yelled at me for limping across the yard to care for the ducks. why you may ask? i got stepped on. by the biggest school horse in the barn. i was working the camp and they asked me to bring him in, and of course he decided to trot out to get the grass outside of the pasture because i guess he thought it was better than the grass he was just eating for hours. so he trots out and his foot lands right on mine and he stops. i was trying to push him off and i could just tell it wasn't going to end well. it hurt. so finally i get him off and return him to his stall and i could just feel my foot pounding. it still felt like he was stepping on it. still does even now. i slipped my shoe off and i saw blood on my sock. not good. took it off and already the toe nail was almost completely blue and bleeding. woops. i hobbled into the louge where 12 kids were sitting and grabbed a towel and wet it. then the trainer came up and asked what happened. when she saw it she flipped out. but i still had about 4 hours at the barn and i really wanted to ride, so i just kept the news from my mom. when she picked me up i showed her and she also flipped out. shes afraid he mightve crushed the bone and my parents both agree that i am going to lose the nail. ughh. it still hurts so bad. like i said before, like he's still stepping on it. this morning when i woke up it was pretty swollen. this isn't much fun.

Ice it and take a pain killer. It happens to most of us at one time or another, next time deal with foot first ok?

yep already did both. pain killer kinda dulls the pain, but not much. i've been stepped on sooo many times before and never had more than a tiny little bruise.

that happened to me (BACK IN THE DAY) when i was a kid. I got the x ray, told me it wasn't broke, but bruised badly. For a non broken foot, it hurt like the dickens and took me about two weeks till It felt ok to put full weight on it

yeah i can move it. thankfully he stepped right before the knuckle on my big toe, so he mostly got the nail. i have it wrapped up right now cuz when i walk (even if i don't put much weight on it) it bleeds and its keeping it more in place.

Ouch i feel your pain i was barefoot on the paved road at a friends place when the horse stepped on my foot...still have the scar on my middle toe....But hey nothing was broke......lucky for me thats the year we lived on a gravel road so my feet where tough from running up and down it bare foot...

I broke my toe when I was wearing steel toe boots so either way they hurt like dickens. Horses with shoes are awful!

Hope you will recover quickly!
