Our babies are due today 21 days but nothing is happening

Our broody hens eggs are due today21 days but nothing is happening. We have candelled them and the5 left have the air sac and the rest is dark.. That was 2 days ago.. How long do we wait? How long do they stay broody? Can we set new eggs under her if nothing happens or are they only broody for the 21-28days??? Thanx we r waiting patiently and this is our first batch..thanx for any help..

Give her a couple more days. If the egg was completely dark (except for the air sac) then they are real close. I bet they hatch in the next day or 2.

My broody hen hatched 5 on Friday and is still sitting. She is great but I had to bring her and the babies in the house due to the rooster killing 2 of them. She still is laying on 4 eggs. I checked them last night and they look like they still have a couple days left. I got one of the 4 eggs left out of my bator because I had taken it from her before I knew she was broody. So I'm giving her as long as she wants. I have food and water right next to her and she doesn't even need to get up to eat. BUT LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING that poop stink's.

Great news!!! We went to check our hen this mornig and 1 little baby chick has hatched!!!!!! Yeah!!!

And oh yeah that poop really does stink!!! I'll keep you posted and add a pic once it's fluffed up.. Very excited..

I would just let her keep sitting until most of the eggs hatch or she gives up. With my last broody none of the eggs hatched untill day 23.

She has 5baby chicks now,im glad I left her to work it all out..very cute..
