Our Bronze Turkey laid these, BR daddy? UPDATE, new pix of the chicks

UPDATE... Y'all were right, I think they're chickens too. Our turkey's still on her nest and the eggs have not hatched yet, 2 weeks out, so she more than likely sat on some rogue eggs the chickens laid and the cracked egg I saw was likely a chicken egg. She is still brooding and probably laid her eggs on the chicken egg nest.
:rolleyes:Thanks for all who stuck with this. There are some puffy feather cheeked chicks who are most likely hatchlings of the BR and Cana mix, they are a mixed bunch and it should be intereting to see what comes from the unintended cross breeding. These little guys are about 2 weeks old now.
Thanks, KR

Hey all,
Maybe she hatched some chicken eggs on another nest and then found an old wild turkey nest in the woods. She may have taken it over, no idea. Sorry to hear you may not have hybrids, how could you really know anyhow. I guess the next step will be to test the fertility of the chicks/poults you have. Im thinking the hybrids will be sterile.

Hey Peeps,
So our turkey's still sittin' on her nest, about 3 weeks in, they should hatch out in another week or so. Since she is the only turkey and thus has no support system from other hens she doesn't leave the nest, so we supply food and water right next to her so she can keep on keepin on!
We have SO many wild turkeys around here (California's Sierra Foothills) that when she disappeared for about a month I'm sure she must have got with a wild boy, we'll know in about a week or so, if my calculations are correct, if they are fertile. We do not however have wild turkeys that call our property home base, so it is quite unlikely that she stumbled upon a wild nest and took it over, she and the wild hens do not get along and I can't see her winning out against the wild hens for their nest, plus it's about 25 feet from our home (down ther hill at the base of a large pine).
I will take picture's if she doesn't split and go to ground for awhile, when they hatch. I believe she feels safe here or wouldn't have come back to nest, but it may be a different story once the poults are hatched.
Thanks for your interest and advice, as ever, anything is welcome as I am new to the unintentional breeding part of chickening.

I don't know how to check the fertility, someone suggested that if they really are hybrids then they will all be male. I'm not even sure of the sex of the chicks/probably not poults yet. I'll ask BYC'rs for their advice on our half dozen misfits a bit later. Right now they look like BR's with maybe some 'Cana crosses. Sorry to be a dummy! And oh yeah, our turkey's a Red Bourbon, the bronze's ended up to be meat birds:( and we had to slaughter them because they had difficulty moving around and we didn't want their legs to break, bummer. In memorium to Jean~Luc Picard and Turducken, kid named 'em...
Thanks, Kararae

I have 3 turkeys, 60 chickens they all live happily together. i have recently found xlarge speckled eggs in my roosting pen on the floor. my Turkey that has seizures is very submissive and has been staying in the area of the eggs!! I was told it was a Male. hard to tell with her other disorders. when do they show true sex signs!?
How long do Turkey eggs take to hatch??

Haha, don't broodies just boggle the mind? Both chickens and turkeys turn into the biggest thieves in the world in order to satisfy their egg-lust. I've actually had hens decide to take over turkey eggs (did a good job too, despite being bantams).
