You are hilarious! I will find her.

I hope you mean this in a good way...

It's really bugging me to not know her color. lol... I'm one of those who wants to make sure I tell people the right info when it comes to my birds. So many just make up a name, and then down the road things are a mess. I'm sure you come across that alot.

I would imagine you were alot like me , probably still are.

It's a good thing.

Yours is BEAUTIFUL! I do see a little diff. Maybe mine has a little darker head and greyish color here and there.
I think in a way it's funny she has you and Shelley stumped.

She was just a little yellow fluff when I got her. lol.. Little did I know. And I don't know if the guy bred here or just ordered eggs. She was outside in a brooder pen with Cots.

I think she seems more "Ivory" than Cinnamon. So should we just consider her "Ivory/silver" mix.
I don't want to drive you too crazy on this one. lol!

Oh...
And your male in the pic, is he Red Breasted? Kinda looks like it from this angel, and the funny part is that is exactly what I was going to pair my girl with!! How Funny!! His pic is further back in this thread.

Thanks so much for your help!

It really is appreciated!!!!!

Well yours looked like a silver as a baby if I remember correctly. Since she now looks like a RB, I would say ivory is the best guess. I'm sure none of them look exactly alike, each has its own 'specialness'

Oh !! How sweet!!! I can't wait to put my two together! Just a few more days and the 30 day quarantine is up for the male!

Parakeets are sweet about courting their lady and doves! I love watching a dove take his mate a twig for the nest!
I'll be getting some of them for the aviary!

So, what color babies can I expect from these 2? LOL!
Just kidding...

I know it's hard to predict what color we'll get. One of the fun things about these birds!

Hi Shelley!
Yes, she did have a hint of silver as a baby. Then took a quick turn to what we thought would be cinnamon. Their own 'specialness' I like that. :)

I think I have a silver in the brooder with the recent hatch! Need to get pics.

Hubby Chuckled when he saw your pair is exactly what we are going to end up with.

Kinda funny with all the colors out there, we end up the same.

I only had 3 males to choose from. lol...And didn't know what the female would be, she was just a 5 day old chick. lol...

I believe at the time I was trying to differentiate the normal red breasted and this black face thing. Then after several breedings blue faces popped up... Hmmmm (lightbulb) I wonder how that occurred! The black face is of blue face descendent! There is an argument among breeders that that is the normal red breasted but that is impossible in my opinion. But story cut short I got cinnamon blue face, blue face, cinnamon red breasted, silver redbreasted, normal redbreasted, AND black faced red breast from the pairing of this retired pair!

THUD!

Needless to say, colors are fun but sure surprising at the same time!

Wow!
That's some great colors!!! O.K....
Can I cut the quarantine short a few days? lol...

I've raised and bred many a parakeet over the years, and am no stranger to color surprises!

Every clutch was a rainbow!

In some of my research I came across some of the same information your referring to.

I can see how the black face is of blue face descendant.

I don't see how it's possible either. How can a black face be a normal red breasted? So much to learn
th.gif
and when it comes to colors can sure get confusing!
