Our Camera Shy Button Quail ~

Missi Quaillady said she grinds it down so to say...
I take a mortle and pestle and beat the shells to a smaller consistency,

Quaillady,
I want to try and find the pine pellets and give them a try. Is it sold for livestock (feed store) or is it more like for bunnies and such (pet shop)

I do beat them down for the biddies. they don't need much. I get a strainer and get some dust and use that if I am lucky. The pine pellets is called "Equine pine pellets" sold at TSC for $5.99 for 40 pounds here. You can get Feline pine pellets at the pet store but it smells a bit funkier from experience and when it gets wet makes me want to

AH! I can do that. Good idea. Yes, I actually do have a mortar & pestle LOL The bobs will not touch the chunkies.

Not nitpickin', but the correct term is MORTAR and pestle, for those unfamiliar with the tool.

Seriously?! LOL

Seriously? Well, since you asked, perhaps I'll clarify. I Seriously believe that accurate information is the responsability of whoever posts information. The word "mortle" wasn't a spelling error. It was the use of the wrong word. If it was mispelled, it would have at least sounded like the correct word, for example "morter" sounds correct, and would be a common error in spelling, but "mortle" sounds nothing like the correct pronounciation of the word mortar. Until I corrected it, someone probably has gone through life thinking that "mortle" is the correct term for the grinding cup part of the apparatus.

Now there's some accurate quail information. Ask and ye shall receive. Anything is possible with the internet.

Yes, but when we type, we may make errors. we are all human afterall. Instead of blabbing it out to the world, one could kindly pm to the person and help them out a bit.

This is for Missy: The little fuzzy butts!

And some coturnix quail chicks for the heck of it. They are 5 days old. I set 120 Texas A and M eggs as my Jumbo Browns are at their weight I want at this generation and no need to hatch them this round. The colors are getting there

... I love my 500+ Quailies (I love calling my birds Quailies even if I have more than a couple birds. This is my passion and joy and I wouldn't trade it for the world)
