I had a paper bag on the floor one night...the next morning no eggs...I was like "huh?" I then saw the paper bag and apparently the boogers thought it was going to eat them or something and held the eggs in until the problem was "relocated"

I got oyster shell from my feed store & it is like small stones. Is that the kind you get? I wish I could find the small kind like they sell for finches & canaries at the pet stores. My quail don't touch the feed store shell but they love the pet store fine shell. Too bad it is so expensive compared to the feed store's shell
Feed store is $ .50/lb (or I forgot how much for the 50lb bag) or $2.99 for the small box at the pet store! UGH!
Our dogs are funny that way. Sometimes just one new thing sitting around, and they will bark at it for hours! Could even be a bag. The first day the christmas tree is up is noisy.
The other day I was trying to see in the sand box, (had to tippy toe) and the Cot. hen that was laying in it got a little nervous. She got up and slowly walked over to where i was and cocked her head sideways, and was looking in the corners too!
It was like she was nervous about what I was looking for. I was egg searching. LOL!
Hi Missi,
I haven't had a chance to see what our feed store has. Right now i'm using the canary/finch. And yes it's expensive! I'll be looking forward to what Quaillady or Shelley have to say about the grit.

I use cuttle bone like you'd hang in a parakeet or cockatiel cage. You can buy it in bulk off Ebay.

Hi Shelley!
So do they actually pick at it or do you grind it?
I picked up a few at the feed store, figuring I'd have to grind it. I'll look into the bulk on ebay too! They weren't cheap at the feed store!
Also, been wanting to ask... I'm keeping the egg shells as we eat the eggs (which were yummy!) . Figured I'd grind them up and throw them in the sand bath.
