Our chickens won't leave the coop since it snowed

my girls don't really care for the snow either.. it's their first winter.. but i have to shovel off their ramp and i shovel a path from the coop to the house.. we have a long screened in porch and they hang out there, where there is no snow.. it's all sandy, so they can still bath.. they seem to stick to the shovelled areas..

That coop sits up high. Is there a reason for that?

its small and it felt safer to me to put it up to waist high.. and it stays better insulated.. this spring we want to build something bigger for them.. they only sleep in there and its great for keeping them warm.. :) just this past week i finally had to get a heated water base in there..

That makes a lot of sense. Do you get alot of snow where you live? That's a very long path to shovel every time it snows. I have to shovel a path too, but it's only about 25 feet from the house. The girls decided they like my sunroom in the summer. Silly birds.
