Our daughter, the chicken whisperer :o)

She sounds like such a wonderful young lady. I hope and pray that with some time, my daughter will start to chip in more with the chicken & duck chores. My daughter (she suffers from "only child syndrome" ~ to be honest I am working very hard to right my wrongs as an older parent to an only child :rant) was excited to see yours surrounded by her chickens. I think your daughter was inspiring. I know you are very proud. She seems like such a blessing :D

Thank you! Yes, she is most definitely a blessing in many ways. :) Jordan and I share the farming passion, while my husband and son like the animals, but don't really like the work associated with them. To be fair, both kids help with chores in the evening (we also have horses), but Jordan loves the work, and Drew is less enthusiastic. My husband works long hours at his job, so he gets a pass on the critter care. :p He is very helpful when we have to haul hay or equipment, so in some way, the whole family helps out. :)

LOVE IT!!!! We must start the young'ns out early with the whole chicken obsession thing ;). Plus, I'm a firm believer in exposing children to Farm Germs. Makes their immune systems stronger! :D Oh, and chicken rearing is definitely therapeutic <3.

Oh, most definitely! Our son was born 9 weeks premature, but even so, I had him outside and "helping" me with the chores as soon as I could! Oddly enough, even though Jordan has also been helping since way before she could walk, she's the one with the allergies! She gets awful sniffly when she's been holding her rabbits, or guinea pigs, and especially when she's been handling the horses. Poor kid!

This is such a wonderful thing to see. I made it a point that my daughters understood where food came from and the work involved. Despite the fact that I left the farm for the city. I firmly believe that this has helped them to appreciate what they have now. Both love animals and have respect for the people that supply our food. Now I will get to do the same with my grandchildren. It will be much easier this time with chickens in my backyard.

Your daughter is lucky to have the upbringing you are providing her. This photo shows how much she is enjoying it without even realizing the gift you are giving her.
