Our dog is jealous of our new chicks.....pix...

I have 7 dogs, 1 blk lab sally, chocolate lab cinnomon, and apricot toy poodle girl Sandy, a cream toy poodle Pippin boy, and a teacup blk poodle Ruby, A pit bull Chance, AND then there is Smokie, silver toy poodle boy, He is absolutely the worst for being a mommas boy! He has a hard enough time dealing with me loving on the other dogs, now comes the chicks, He is a little doll, but he is soooo jeolous he went in a stole the food dish and the water bowl out of the brooder box! and when I try and get him to look at the chicks he growls at them and then turns his back and won't even look at them or me if I holding them. but as soon I put the chick down he is in my lap with his front paws around my neck and will not get down ! I love him dearly but glad to know Im not the only one with an "emotionally challenged" puppy. LOL I love all my fur and fuzzy kiddos!

A lot of female dogs get very stressed out by the sounds of peeping and squealing because they instinctively want to care for puppies when they whine and cry. So maybe the peeping is telling her these are babies that need care.

I've heard a lot of stories about female dogs that 'mother' their squeaky toys and become distressed when they accidentally make one squeak!

Of course, not all female dogs are like that...mine tears the squeakers out of her toys and pops them. She won't be meeting my chicks.
You’ll be pleased to know that my dog also rips squeaky toys to shreds and takes the squeaker out but she’s also been very mothering to the baby chicks we brought home, hasn’t been anything but motherly to them even with the peep sounds. So maybe how your dog treats the toys doesn’t correlate with how she would treat a live animal like baby chicks 😊
