Our Dominiques Roo is driving us BANANAS pls help!!!!!

Proof that roosters can be sweet, gentle pets. This is my "lap chicken" Fred. He passed away this summer because of the heat. I so miss having him around. I can't wait to move out to the country so that I can get more roosters (legally

sorry to hear of your loss. we had the most wonderful chicken who passed away recently and she was a great addition to our farm. we hope our remaining roo will be just as nice as Fred and hard on the hawks and foxes!

Yeah young roosters can be terrorists. Most are pretty rough with the girls when the first start mating but your guy sounds over the top. While chicken mating can look really rough even when it's normal, that sounds more like him being a jerk. I don't tolerate aggression to me or my hens. Roos either learn their place or find themselves in freezer camp. I've been able to find homes for several wonderful roosters I wasn't able to keep. Most of them wound up as pets. I've only had one who was too aggressive to rehome. He had a healthy respect for me but would get mean with other people. I was going to make soup out of him but he decided to fly the fence and was caught by the neighbors dog. That boy was a handful

Just saying but my dominque rooster is an absolute sweet heart. Literally goes running if I even reach my arm towards him and is really nice to all his ladies and even the other two roosters. (He's big enough they haven't tried to challenge him yet). My little bantam rooster charged me a couple times. I backhanded him across the run. Never tried it again. Same rooster crows all the time but he is so small it's not very loud. He also matured the fastest. I bet the aggression and crowing are linked. Sure seems like it in my flock.
