Our Egg Hatching thread! Hatch: Nov. 7th (Hatching Video PG 57)

I have hatched numerous times and it is just as exciting now as the first time. I dont sleep either. I try but it doesnt work. How many eggs do you have in to hatch kodiak

Ha the silkies now outnumber the millies in the brooder - we will see who is so tough now...

4/5 silkies hatched
3/3 millies hatched
1/11 frizzled cochin hatched

The last silkie is very weak - I picked away some of the shell for it and I hope that it finds strength by morning to get out.

Sorry I'm not answering everyone's posts directly, but I am so bushed this morning. Right after my pip started, I tried to get ahold of my mom and couldn't. Was trying to return a phone call she had made to me a little bit before that that I had missed. So I decided to drive (it's an hour round trip to her place) to check on her to make sure she was OK. She was. And actually I probably gave her a heart attack walking into her bedroom going, "Mom? Mom?" She was sound asleep and after the second "mom" she makes this huge gasp noise. I said, "Um... did I scare you? Halloween's over but, trick or treat? Just trying to make sure you're OK!" After she woke up, she was amused.

And yep, it's the Rhode Island White eggie that has the pip. Actually, there are two RIW's now with pips!!

This is all of the progress the first one has made. Slow poke! I am restraining myself from the urge to help it as I know that's the last thing you should do when they are hatching.

pbjmaker, I hope the silkie makes it out!

I will be thinking of your chickies at work today! I hope they are dried bundles of fluff when I get back on to check the thread

I have NO pips yet but I do see movement so I have hope that when I get home from work in 10 hours that I will have some pips and MAYBE some zips! Good luck today you all. Ricky, any pips yet for you??
Cass, it's good to see that the chick has a hole through the membrane. At least he is getting air now

It's so hard not to help them isn't it!!

The last silkie made it out just fine. The frizzled cochin looks to be blue barred. I think he just wants to fit in with the blue silkies!

I quick candled a couple of the frizzle eggs when I removed chicks to the brooder. There was no movement in them, so I candled all of them. None of them look like they have movement. I am leaving them in there for now but I don't have much hope.

It's wierd how I got 100% hatch from one batch of eggs I put in there and only 1/11 from the other batch. I have hatched eggs from Lisa before and got like an 80% hatch in an older crapier bator.

No pips yet

I swear I think I killed them, I dont know how but I just know that I killed them!! I finally got my humidity up to about 72% and my temp has been 100 since I started. I really really hope they are alive!!!!

I wouldn't worry. Are you on day 20 today too? I'm on day 20 and I have NO pips yet either. I will usually start seeing pips on day 20 and mine usually hatch about 12 hours later. My average hours that a chick takes to hatch after pipping out of all the chicks I have hatched is 13.5 hours. Hopefully we both see pips today! Do you have to work or are you home today? Good luck...it will happen, hang in there

I'm going to have to sneek on at work and see if anyone else has chickies! LOL IF I can.

This is my first hatch ever and I really want atleast ONE to hatch!! I keep thinking I am hearing them cheep but then I remember I have my other babies that I ordered off the internet in my laundry room which is connected to my bedroom LOL. I keep shining a flashlight in the bator to see if I can "wake" one of them up lol.
