Oh I love that photo. It does look like a chicken church. They could be "holy poultry". (can I get an 'Amen' ?!)
Please keep posting pics. Can't wait to see it...
I'm a sucker for gingerbread, that coop in the picture is awesome - are you going to 'ginger' up the outside like that? I hope so!
We plan to "ginger" it up to some extent. I'm not sure if we're going to put the spire on it, but we are going to add the verge board (the white lacy board on the front). The spire might not work because of the octagons for ventilation...
More pics of the progress from this weekend!! We got the plywood up for the roof, and the spire built. Yes, we did decide to go with the spire... May as well go all out, right?
Here's the roof going up.
Here I am cutting the verge board (lacy white board) with a jig saw.
The final verge boards and spire, pre-paint.
Yes, I cut the verge boards myself, I am VERY proud; like shouting from the rooftops proud
Maybe a little too proud... lol
Next step, sanding and paint, then felt paper, drip edge and shingles for the roof. I'm feeling like we may actually finish this!!
This is so funny! I have the exact same book and I've looked at all the pics of sheds in it fantasizing about how I could turn each one into a chicken coop, but the shed you're making was my favorite.
I liked to picture the chickens hangin out on the porch.

I like to picture that, too!! I think they'll love the extra "perches".
If you end up making the playhouse, and have questions with how it was designed, let me know. We found a few discrepancies in the book, and a few things we would change if we did it over again.
The way its designed wastes quite a bit of material!!
Overall, we're very happy with it, and the way it's turning out.
