Our favorite hen just not herself after white poop

My spouse put out a bird feeder one day about a week and a half ago and our flock got under it and ate all the (many) dropped seeds. One of them (our 3 year old ISS brown) developed white liquify poops a few days later. She is now not as energetic, not eating as readily and refuses worms (though eats grain treats vigorously), has a slight blue tinge to her comb tips that comes and goes. She is also losing feathers (her last molt was only 2 months ago so it’s not an annual molt.

I am worried that she may have caught PD and will never recover, but I guess I’m just looking for some reassurance here. Has anyone dealt with something similar, did your hen recover, and how did you treat it/help her?

On day 2 of the pooping I gave her probiotics in her water, and wetted food pellets to encourage her to hydrate and eat. I also put some yeast cream in her vent to help clear up the gleet she now has.

Is there anything else I can do for her? I can’t help but think she is on her way out :(.

Thanks all. Poop photo attached in case it helps…

Can you post photos of her and her vent?

Check to see that her crop is emptying overnight.
You mention she has Vent Gleet now? This is new as well?

Is there a way to get a fecal float to rule out worms?

Here are some comb photos from yesterday. I couldn’t get a good picture of her vent but here is a fluffy butt shot :)

Is this the same hen that had vent gleet and was having egg issues back in July, or a different one? What are they fed, and can they get into anything moldy? Has she been laying recently? Did you feel of her crop this morning to see if it was empty, full, firm, or puffy?

Ooh good memory! That hen unfortunately died:(. I think that’s why I’m so worried about this one, as the other started with feather loss, gleet and blue comb. The other didn’t have all that white diarrhea though.

They do graze around our yard but in principle there’s nothing moldy in their food or coop. Her crop has been fine— filling and emptying like it should.

Lately her laying had been spotty (past month or two) but she had been thru a molt then it’s winter so I didn’t think much of it. She has laid 2-3 eggs a week, all a bit off (longer or rounder than usual, streaks on them, eg

I would see that she is drinking plenty of fluids, since dehydration can cause a lot of white urates in the droppings. I would. consider worming her with Valbazen 1/2 ml given orally once, and again in 10 days.

For posterity’s sake I wanted to post a follow up here. This hen continued to decline, stools growing more watery, comb growing darker and more shriveled. She began to show signs of paralysis, no use of one leg, weak and droopy wings. At some point a few days after the above posts, I treated her with a pea sized amount of panacur; separated her and offered vitamin/electrolyte/probiotic water in addition to food/regular water. She would not eat but gladly took the spiced water. although her decline continued, around about day 10 after the panacur and after 5-6 days of not eating, her condition began to improve dramatically!! Leg started coming back to life, poop stopped being water, a little bit of food started to disappear. Now… her comb has been looking pale but apart from that she is almost back 100%!! Thanks for the parasite suggestion above, as it seems likely now all this may have been that or some other transient ill was she mysteriously and coincidentally recovered from.

Now, I still seem to be seeing rippling effects in the flock, with one other bird now on the decline (swollen belly, weird breathing and poop) despite treatment also with panacur after I saw such improvement in the original patient. I just gave a second treatment to the bird today (and a third for the original patient), and am hoping for the best!
