Our First Broody and Incubator Hatch: a Diary

Pics
Ruby and the peeps are out of the nest box. I'm not sure what to do with the rest of the eggs. I have to move them, I need a space for a nest on the floor. No more mister, she's got them in the breeze of the fan now.

I'm calling the chicks spot and not spot for the time being. The chick with the spots is the close up on the bottom, sorry for the quality it's a squirmy little beast. I love the difference in their appearance. Spot has a helmet and almost a beard it looks like, plus a bib. Not spot has a bow tie and very limited face feathers.

Ok 2 eggs in the incubator. One CCL mix and the other Bresse mix. Incubator at 70% h and 100*

I candled and think I saw movement in the CCL and the other is just hoping against hope. Today is day 21 so not ready to give up yet.

Nest box out, milk crate in at floor level on its side.

So cute! Look at ruby-kins sitting in the feed dish! Haha how's it like watching them? How's the relationship between chicks and mama? How many eggs left?

She looks at them with stars in her eyes lol. She's a very loving mommy yet she let me pick them up. They stick close of course.

I imagine she's hungry! She's lost a lot of weight. I gave her some live mealworms this morning, hand fed her in the nest box.

There are 2 eggs in the incubator. I think the CCL mix might hatch still :fl send us good mojo!

PS I sat on the coop floor for pics. It's an amazing experience to see the dedication she has to them and how quickly she's teaching them things.
