Two of my girls have been showing signs that they would be laying soon. This afternoon I was standing in the kitchen window and heard this crazy noise coming from the coop. It was not a noise I had heard before. At first I was alarmed and then I wondered. But no, it's too soon isn't it? Then I saw one of my Barred Rocks come out of the coop. Well, they never go in the coop during the day. They are only 15 weeks today but I sent my son out to check and he came running up to the house with an egg! My beautiful Beatrice laid the first egg! We squealed and danced around. We made calls and texts like we were welcoming a new baby. LOL!
