My roost is a 2x4 wide side up. That way they can cover their feet in cold weather. It's about 30" off floor now that they are grown. When they were younger it was at 18 -24" high. I have 4 hens and mine is 48" long

another view from my storage side. They DO POOP GOBS OVERNIGHT ! So it's handy to eventually get most poop in one place for cleaning.

I'm sorry to hear about the leaking in coop. !
