Our first hatch!!!

Gorgeous!! :love

Looks like you got a nice color assortment too! Congrats!
Does the duckling colour give a good indication of what their adult feathers will be? Mum is a standard black and white (pied?) and the drake is possibly a lavender pied.
Some of the ducklings are all yellow
Some are black and yellow
Some are grey/lavender and yellow
One is nearly entirely black

I am so excited to see what colours they all develop!!

So glad they are doing well!
Yellow down turns white, Black will stay black, the grayish color looks like it will be blue.
Lavender is a separate gene. If it’s true lavender, it needs a copy from each parent to show in the offspring, unless one is a carrier and not showing it themselves. Otherwise it just shows as black.

The fluffers are growing up so fast!
I got another pond set up that is shallower than the other one, and put pavers in and out so it’s stepped for them to climb in and out of easier.

They took to this new toy like, well, ducks to water

Is it normal for them to lay down a lot?

They free range from sunrise to sunset every day, and im not sure if they’re just wearing themselves out. But they all run about and act fine, but will pause or stop and squat down. They only do it briefly before one will scamper off and then the group follows. They still have longer naps as a large group and Mumma Winsor is still with them 24/7. Are they just resting their little legs? Everything is absolutely good in everything else.

Those are all things you can use for a niacin supplement, but liquid B-complex works best! If you are giving niacin then yes...ducks grow so fast that there little legs just need a break for there "big" bodies!
