I'm a chicky mama! My second attempt at incubating eggs resulted in two sweet baby chicks. Chickens make incubating eggs look so easy!
My daughter has named them Gilfy and Miri (for little miracle).
They are Buff Orpington/Barred Rock mix. I hatched them in a still air foam incubator turning them and spritzing them with water three times a day. The first one hatched 23 days after I put them in the incubator. Three hatched, but one did not make it. Around day 25 I finally found the nerve to crack open the unhatched eggs. More than half had babies in them that didn't make it. I'm fairly certain I messed things up by fiddling with the temperature knob a couple of weeks into the process. The temperature went way too high before I caught it and corrected it. I'm pretty awed and amazed. It was so fun watching them hatch!
