Getting a plumber to your house in less than 24 hours is just not going to happen in most places.. 3 or 4 days sounds more normal..

Yep, I agree especially on a holiday weekend or any weekend in general, and when you do find one that will show up on on holiday weekend, most will charge several $100s extra for that weekend emergency call...

Yeah, I guess that's true. Hopefully he won't charge extra.

But their guy came so

So apparently the guy couldn't do anything but said we needed a replacement.. But he couldn't do it, he said he's an A/C guy, not a plumber. And came from like an hour away.. just to walk across the back lawn (the long way), in the rain, and not be able to do anything. But he was doing a job close by anyways.

Oh and we bought a new one , they just need to install it

BTW I took showers and lived in a house with no water heater for about a month when ours went bad one time... And surprisingly after the first few cold showers it's not really that bad, yeah you are not going to hang out under the cold water and sing a song, but it's not as bad as it is the first time or as you would suspect...

And oh no, I wouldn't mind, especially since its summer anyways, and if I could take any shower, I absolutely would. But that's exactly the problem - I can't. Somehow, our line for the shower goes through the water heater so we can't even take cold showers - no water was coming out. There was cold water in the sinks but not the shower and I'm not gonna shower in a sink, though I did think about just hosing off. Lol

Single handle water faucet in the tub I assume?

Sorry, went away yesterday. But anyways, yeah, single handle. We don't have a tub though, just the shower, but yeah, it's one handle

Single handles showers have a valve inside that detects water pressure. If the flow cuts back on the hot side it will cut the flow back on the cold just as much. Its made to keep you from being burned or frozen if someone turns the sink on. But sense you didn't have any pressure on the hot side it cut the cold off too.
