Hello all!
While we were cleaning the hen house and feeding today, I noticed that a hen had a long piece of tarp string in her mouth. Apparently, the tarp we had over the run had tattered and she pulled a piece into the run and ate it. At any rate, I tried to gently pull the sting out, but it seemed "stuck" and she squawked very loudly. I was afraid of causing injury, so I cut the string as close to her beak as possible. I am worried that this might cause a blockage in her crop. Is it possible for the tarp string to pass or will we need to do (gulp!) surgery? Thanks for any opinions and advice.
