Our hen crows...is that the same as having a rooster?

The law in our town says no roosters. If we have a hen that crows (turns out it's somewhat common...who knew) would we legally still have to get rid of her? Anyone have any experience with this?

Roosters arent allowed in cities/towns because of the noise. If your hen is being noisy like a rooster than it will probably annoy your neighbors. Personally I would either get rid of the hen or talk to your neighbors. You can be fined because of the noise ordinance.

We really don't want to get rid of her. She's the SWEETEST hen ever. She's a little banty and my daughter walks around with her while the bird's eyes are closed relaxing in her arms. My son is also really attached...however if we're forced I know we'll need to do what we need to. Maybe I'll talk to the neighbors again. None of them had issues with chickens but a crowing one might be a little different! I know she wakes me up sometimes.

I wouldn't get rid of her if I were you. Just change her sleeping arrangement--- like have her sleep in a covered crate in the garage so there is no noise at an ungodly hour. She sounds like a sweetie-- get her on video!

I had no idea hens crowed- until I was given a black silkie who seems to have made this her favorite past time. At first I thought maybe we have a rooster here but she's laid an egg so I figured I would find out if anyone else had this happen and found this post.
Is there anything we can do to discourage this? My one neighbor already hates that we have chickens ( even though we had them way before they moved in ) so I'm guessing the silkie's new found past time will eventually become another issue for them to call the town about. I'd hate to have to get rid of her.
Anyone have any ideas?
