Our home on fire

I just thought I would share this as i feel it is really an incredible picture.

unfortunately we are receiving INCREDIBLY high winds today and had through the night giving containment a 0%chance. Many people have lost their homes, its so, so sad

That picture was taken early, early this morning.........close to 1ish.


The fire started between 12 and 12:30, but driven by the winds it has grown to a state of emergency:


The state of Nevada, Washoe County and the City of Reno have declared a state of emergency.

The current evacuation area encompasses everything southwest of McCarran and S. Virginia Street, and the entire area between Skyline Blvd., S. McCarran and Plumas.

9,500 people have been evacuated.

How aweful. I'm thinking of all of you. Sure hope the snow comes to help snuff it out.

thanks genny, I had no idea that many people had been evacuated. Last night it seemed huge. Looking out my back porch it just seems enourmous now.

its maybe five miles from here. We are near the 1-80 ketstone offramp on a hill so we have a view of the foothills.
