Our introduction to keeping chickens, the high's, the lows and pics of our journey.

The abbreviation threw me off. When I saw the pics and there was Taz right there in the image list -then I made the connection.
Hey Ben - no Web Cam so how about a Sal on her 9 eggs photo? I snapped one of Fancy just now on her real eggs - she's smiling.

Oh - my daughter named her Fancy because when she was a chick she was all black except her white belly and white eyelids. She looked to be wearing eyeshadow.

:) She's smiling on the inside.

And any type of mint. I planted mint all around our coops. My chickens don't eat it so it actually grows where they freerange. Anything else doesn't stand a chance(like grass), it'll be eaten. Mint is invasive though so I don't recommend planting it near other vegetation...or where you prefer grass.

Cut them up off plants and throw them in the nest boxes.

I was blown away to see 25 fresh posts this morning!

I have mint, but the girls seems to like eating it so it's in a pott up on the table.

Our feed store has Coopex too, I might grab a satchel for the rooster box anyway.

Sal is doing great, she was just off the nest while I was down there doing my morning routine, but was tucked back in nicely by the time I finished. I did get a Day 1 pic Pam, but it's on my phone and I have to rush out the door. Will load it up later :)

Have a nice day team!

I planted chocolate mint in my run & my pullets scoffed it. It has recovered nicely & I have yet to find a new home for it. I'm now growing standard mint next to the run in the hopes that it will invade the run & not anywhere else. : ) I also have comfrey but have read that it's one of the plants to feed seldom to chooks or it causes problems. It's a pity because they grow such nice big leaves.
