Our introduction to keeping chickens, the high's, the lows and pics of our journey.

HI, yeah quiet the past couple of days.

Training has peaked and has taken me away from a lot of social things. 13 Days to go and it's all downhill until the big day now.

The feather duster is our strongest crower, the NH and Australorp are gaining size but rarely crow. The white Coro cross silkie is still on the fence, to male feathers yet, but still has a suspect male face.

The Cochin is adorable, but quite flighty, I like to have a pet of our chickens so that's a bit of a shame that she does not like our company. The feather duster is pretty cool to pat, so soft like an overgrown chick.

Everyone else is doing ok, the straw is working out pretty well under the roosts, non of the girls have tried to nest in it which is a good thing.

Been eating yellow passionfruit and now the grape vine is bursting with new shoots too. Nearly time to plant out our spring seeds in the veggie patch.

Freo went down in the finals last night, half my state is devastated, the other half are pretty happy lol The grand final is the same day as my race, I will have other things on my mind by the time the game starts.

Was this a plan or just luck of the draw?
Anyways, I am hoping you have a very good race!

I am quietly out of mention for the race. I kind of like that, but we have 6 extremely good runner entered, who will be bashing it out for the win. They will go close to 7 hours flat for 82k, two could go under if they have a good plan.

I will be a bit further down the pack I think, realistically somewhere between 8-9 hours for me, depends how much time I eat up at the aid stations (I have allowed and average 1:10 at each of the 4).

By last years results that would put me in about 3rd, but this year has attracted some guns, and I only brought along a knife!

My wife is up to something too....not sure what but I think it's some sort of surprise for the big race, kind of hoping it's a bean bag and a caffeine drips for the finish line lol

Ha, I ran 34k of it the other night and it was pretty soggy, but we are expecting some heat. I have to buy a snake bandage to add to my kit, a few coming out of hibernation now.

BTW, the feather duster is developing quite a nice crow, and has kept it to just a few in the morning. I wonder how long we can keep this little guy!
