Our Journey into chicks

Funny story.. It's almost been 24 since pip without movement or peeps so I took tweezers to the pip hole and opened to get a look.... And found a duck bill peeping at me!!! So I put it back and am now at a loss as what to do!
So....You're expecting chickens and you're seeing ducks? Am I understanding that?

Good luck on those eggs! :D
And I agree, hatching eggs is very addictive. I finally hatched out two little bantam chicks (Seramas) this summer from my homemade incubator (I still want to hatch more!). I hope to incubate some more eggs in the summer of 2015.
Here are the little chicks:

OMG. Um, I'm trying very hard not to laugh, as that could be a problem....but I have to be honest...from this side of the predicament.....

So I have a couple questions then, if they or at least that one is a duck egg, then it's hatching early, right? And did you buy the eggs from someone? I don't know what to say, "congrats" or "sorry" .

Did you feel like this:

She did say after I already set them that some could be duck eggs but I was for sure these two were chicken eggs based on candling and development . They internally pipped on day 21 I thought confirming they were chciken. It is now day 23 and that is definetly a bill! It's way to soon for ducks to hatch though! I hope they will be ok!!!

Ok, I know that isn't really funny, and it could be an issue if you don't want ducks, but I couldn't help myself. I'm now thinking of the childrens' book I used to read to my girls, called Are You My Mama. A little lost duck goes around asking everything if it is its mama.

I hope so too. I thought it was early. I'm new to this whole poultry addiction thing, but I thought I read 28 days for chicks? Do they need to be incubated at the same temp, or could that be why they/it might be hatching early?

Its the same temp for ducks I read so idk what's going on. I've candled from day one so no way it was already partly incubated. So unless all my thermometers are off idk what happened.
