Our Library Ordered Raising Chickens for Dummies!!!

Quote:
I was on my account online and noticed that a title had been added to my "requested/in transit" list...it was this book. I looked at the details and it said "hold on 1 of two copies on order for LARL system"

My library has ordered EIGHT copies!

I only requested last tuesday! I am first on the request list!

Hooray for VPL.

Sarah, not only is the Monroe library system sorry (no tax base, no funding), but the buildings are badly maintained = mold = no can do for my allergies. Greyson branch of Gwinnett is a nice new building.
SO when its a new library, why have a "new book" section? They're all new books.

bake sale? community yard sale? donations? I would google it and see if there are ideas online

I have always been blessed to live in communities large enough to have nice library systems so am not really sure how to go about that... but best of luck because I know how important a library with actual books is!

I am also very interested learning about this as I want to keep some chicken (4-5 max) . We had 3 acre but Gwinnett county needed more road space and we are less than 3 acre now. Am I out of luck here

If it happens get a copy of the ordiance!!! Sometimes officers have no idea what they are talking about.

What you all can do is to go to the town's courthouse and get a copy of the pet and livestock laws and ordiances. do not tell them that you are getting chickens but curious about it. Read it carefully because some terms will say EXCEPT so many feet from neighbors or acreage #. That would give you some leeway with the EXCEPT word even they prohibit or unlawful. If you do get a copy of the the ordiance and still don't understand it, bring it on to here, type it out for us and we can figure out what you can have or what you are restricted with.

Good luck!

Gwinnett County requires 3 acres and R-100 or less-dense zoning. If folks would like to change the ordinances to allow chickens on smaller lots, now's the time. You have at least ONE new member of the Planning Commission who is simpathetic.

I feel everyone should have the right to produce their own food on their own property as long as it doesn't adversely affect someone else (and they can PROVE it).
