Our Mixed Flock Journey!

Okay, I think this will be the last egg today, from my EE, Pearl. She lays such a pretty egg! Not very big yet.

We will be going to visit with my daughter & her husband this weekend for my birthday! I'm hoping to take at least 18 eggs to share! Some of these will be eaten between now and then, but the girls are laying so well I should reach my goal! 2 of the Welsummer eggs are misshapen, but I'm sure they will improve.

Actually no... she is not all that friendly... she’ll usually skitter away.
It seems some of mine were the opposite.. my Silkie was my scariest chicken.. and my BO..like I said.... but my RIR is very friendly ... but Lilly and Kelly are my most friendliest of all... they literally come for hugs everyday!! Lilly is the LB and Kelly is EE... View attachment 2294867View attachment 2294869

They are all definitely individuals! Funny to think of a scary Silkie.

I've always heard Black Australorps are sweet tempered, but I've had 3 of them and none of them were people friendly at all (actually rather nasty tempered). My sweetest birds so far have been red sex links, RIR's and my Welsummer.

That will be a nice treat for your DD and her family!

That stinker of a hen was out of the pen again today. We shooed her back in. I definitely need to clip her wings before we leave for the weekend.

Today's eggs include a very interesting one. Looks like a desert scene! I brought in 4 today.

I have two Australorps.. my black.. Maryn is really sweet but she will peck me hard if I am not paying her enough attention! And my lavender is Rosemary... she is fairly friendly... they lay giant eggs but not very regularly...

2 of my RIR, 1 Marans, my EE's, 2 BO, my SOE hen are pretty friendly, the rest are a little wary, but none are mean. The only aggressive behavior has been Little Roo towards me & Roo towards my son.
